Recently there has been a great deal of discussion about unnecessary, risky testing or “over-testing” patients. For some, it can create confusion and uncertainty. That is why it’s important to have your physician explain the test he / she is recommending and why the test is needed.

Our Philosophy

The cardiologists of CVC follow recommendations outlined by the American College of Cardiology. CVC cardiologists agree that no test should be ordered unless absolutely necessary. We begin with basic testing which may include blood work and / or an electrocardiogram (EKG) if your primary doctor has not already performed these tests prior to your visit with CVC. The decision to order advanced diagnostic testing is based upon whether the patient has or is suspected of having a significant heart condition, and then follow up tests are performed for progressive (or likely to be a progressive) heart problems. We may perform “baseline testing” to get a current, accurate picture of the heart’s function and monitor any changes at intervals when a progressive heart condition is indicated. The important thing to remember is that we will gladly take the time to explain testing options, how the test is performed, and why is it beneficial for you.

During inclement weather, CVC may find it necessary to cancel or delay office operations due to hazardous driving conditions for patients and staff members. We do attempt to reach all patients whose appointments are affected. However, we suggest that you call CVC offices at 301-891-7000 to get an update about office closings or delayed openings.

The Technique Offers Fewer Risks, Quicker Recovery

David M. Brill, M.D., FACC, Interventional Cardiologist at Cardiovascular Consultants, P.A., now performs transradial cardiac catheterization in Maryland. Transradial catheterization requires a higher level of training and skill and is performed by very few interventional cardiologists in this area. The technique is beginning to emerge in the United States and offers significant benefits over the cardiac catheterization approach traditionally used to diagnose and treat coronary artery disease. read full story»
