CVC Inclement Weather Plan

During inclement weather, CVC may find it necessary to cancel or delay office operations due to hazardous driving conditions for patients and staff members, or in the event of power outages.   We do attempt to reach all patients whose appointments are affected to reschedule the visit.   If a power outage occurs, our phone system may be unable to receive phone calls at the affected office.  If you are trying to reach us and cannot get through when power outages have been reported, please try calling our other office.  We will do our best to keep you informed on this site of closings, delays, or phone service interruptions.  Please visit this site for updates on office operations and other important messages. Do you have questions about which diagnostic tests are right for you?

Recently there has been a great deal of discussion about unnecessary, risky testing or “over-testing” patients.  For some, it can create confusion and uncertainty.  That is why it’s important to have your physician explain the test he / she is recommending and why the test is needed.

Our Philosophy

The cardiologists of CVC follow recommendations outlined by the American College of Cardiology.  CVC cardiologists agree that no test should be ordered unless absolutely necessary. We begin with basic testing which may include blood work and / or an electrocardiogram (EKG) if your primary doctor has not already performed these tests prior to your visit with CVC.  The decision to order advanced diagnostic testing is based upon whether the patient has or is suspected of having a significant heart condition, and then follow up tests are performed for progressive (or likely to be a progressive) heart problems.  We may perform “baseline testing” to get a current, accurate picture of the heart’s function and monitor any changes at intervals when a progressive heart condition is indicated.  The important thing to remember is that we will gladly take the time to explain testing options, how the test is performed, and why is it beneficial for you.

The Technique Offers Fewer Risks, Quicker Recovery

David M. Brill, M.D., FACC, Interventional Cardiologist at Cardiovascular Consultants, P.A., now performs transradial cardiac catheterization in Maryland.  Transradial catheterization requires a higher level of training and skill and is performed by very few interventional cardiologists in this area.  The technique is beginning to emerge in the United States and offers significant benefits over the cardiac catheterization approach traditionally used to diagnose and treat coronary artery disease.    read full story»

 

Dr. Turco Elected to the ACC Board of Governors»

Mark A. Turco, M.D., FACC, FSCAI, practicing cardiologist at Cardiovascular Consultants, P.A., has been elected to the American College of Cardiology (ACC), Board of Governors for the State of Maryland for the term 2012 – 2015.   Dr. Turco will serve as Governor-elect beginning April 2011, and then assume the post of Maryland State Governor for a term of three years, beginning in March 2012.    read full story»
